If you’re serious about having an amazing web site…

…you’re going to want to assure you test & measure everything!
This is the final post of my 7 part series on how to Create an Amazing Web Site! It’s also available on iTunes. This entire series is also available in an eBook on our Web Site.
And, yes, it’s true – amazing web sites are never done!
To make a web site truly amazing, it needs to exceed your core goal. This is done through constantly testing & measuring, and most importantly, making changes to your web site based on those measurements.
Hint: Be sure to read “Call to Action” to learn all about this!
How do I do this?
Specifically, you’ll want to measure people contacting you from your web site. This generally happens three ways:
- A web inquiry such as contact form on your web site e-mailing you their request.
- A phone call from your web site (remember 35% of people prefer to call rather than fill out online forms. Yes, you always need your phone number visible on your site!)
- An actual visit to your store, or office, from that person finding you on the web.
Measuring the first two, web inquiries and phone calls are easy & automatic…
For web inquiries, Google makes this extremely affordable (FREE!) & powerful with their Google Analytics service. Sign up at: www.Google.com/analytics. You’ll be given a code to insert into your web site. Once installed, you can set up a “Goal Conversion” that happens whenever a person presses the Submit button on your Contact Form.
Everything is tracked automatically, and Analytics can be told to e-mail you your report on a daily or weekly basis.
For phone calls from your web site, we’ve found only way to get an accurate reading is to have a separate, dedicated phone number for your web site.
We use & recommend RingCentral.com for this purpose, as it measures:
- the amount of calls from your web site,
- who has called, and
- where they’ve called from.
Everything is tracked automatically, and it simply forwards to your existing phone number!
For visitors to your office, you’ll have to track that using your customer tracking system, commonly called a Customer Relationship Manager (CRM). If you don’t have one, we recommend the following:
- Zoho CRM – free up to 3 users!
- Highrise HQ CRM – 30 day free trial, sign up in 60 seconds!
Bottom line – If you’re serious about results, make this your routine:
- Look at your core goal daily.
- Test & measure everything on a weekly basis (using Google Analytics & RingCentral).
- See what works – do more of that.
- See what doesn’t work – tweak it & try again, or get rid of it.
