Create a web site, Tip 5: Find designs!
Our History, Our Philosophy, Our Services, Your Feedback Add commentsIf you’re really looking to extend your personality, and brand, online, the best place to start…
…is by finding web sites that ‘feel’ right to you.
This is part 5 of my 7 part series on how to Create an Amazing Web Site! It’s also available on iTunes. This entire series is also available in an eBook on our Web Site.
Before you create the look of your web site, it’s really important that you have a good idea of how you want to be portrayed on the web.
HINT: The more research & planning you do, the easier the creation is!
The best method is to search the web (start with competitor web sites) to find designs that:
- make you feel comfortable the moment you see them,
- have the colors you like, and
- have the formatting you like (remember, keeping it simple means more conversions!)
As you find sites, copy or bookmark their web addresses. Once you have your list of sites
created, go back through them – making notes of what you like (and dislike) about each
web site, and rate the sites you’ve selected highest to lowest.
Combining the feeling, colors and formatting you like from these sites will serve as a great
way to lay the foundation for your new web site.
NOTE: If you’re having trouble finding sites you like – sometimes it’s easier to find sites you DON’T like, and note what you don’t like about them.
If you’d like to get a head start, be sure to check Our Portfolio and also, our Web Starter Kit.
