Over the years, I’ve read hundreds of industry related books, and these rise to the very top & I’m going to tell you a secret…

This is part 1, in my 7 part series on how to Create an Amazing Web Site! It’s also available on iTunes. This entire series is also available in an eBook on our Web Site.
The secret?
These 3 books will sum up what you’ll need to think about in regard to creating an amazing web site:
- Don’t Make Me Think by Steve Krug
- Web Copy That Sells (2nd Edition) by Maria Veloso
- The New Rules of Marketing & PR by David Meerman Scott
These books do a great job of covering the 3 main areas of web creation & promotion, which are:
- creating the look of your site, using tested & measured techniques,
- creating content in your site that engages the visitor, making them want to act,
- creating awareness for your web site using proven methods of success (most are free!)
HINT: News related content in your web site is given the highest relevance by Google.
Incidentally, if you like to read, be sure to check out the Kindle reading device by Amazon. You can have dozens of books in the small device, and a book can be delivered in under a minute!
It’s a really amazing device – I absolutely love it, and read more because of it!
If you’re looking to create a web site for amazing results, be sure to start with Don’t Make Me Think!
Enjoy!

It’s the software (interface) that makes the Kindle 2 shine. It is very easy to use and very intuitive. Here are a few initial criticisms.
1) The 5 way navigation button could use a replaceable rubber nib extension to make it easier to use. I read the WSJ on my Kindle and I am constantly moving around within the paper and would like a little more tactile control.
2) Since I now have two Kindles I would like to be able to share periodicals and blogs between them like I can do with the books I have purchased. According to Customer Support I can’t do that and I would have to buy an additional subscription for my second Kindle.
3) The Text to Speech feature is amazing but it can’t pronounce President Obama’s name correctly. It says Obama as in Alabama. Since I use it in the car, to have it read the WSJ, I laugh every time it says his name.
