We’ve been in the Web business since the first rumblings of the phrase “World Wide Web” in the mid 90’s, and we’ve never seen something explode like our latest project…
In less than a month, the site is attracting hundreds of visitors per day — and, basically, it’s all word of mouth!
From the very beginning this project has been very exciting to me –
First, if you’ve read my blog, you know I believe ‘passion is where it is at‘, and this project has screamed passion from day one!
Secondly, I love it when our team is part of something that really uses the Web to its potential, and has people involved that really dig in and use what we create.
Finally, Sandy K, the amazingly passionate & incredibly energetic gal with the vision for this project — simply put — hit the ground rolling, in a major way!
What is SanibelCaptivaDaily.com?
Basically, it’s a constantly updated online photo gallery & journal of the daily events & entertainment on the islands of Sanibel & Captiva, here in Southwest Florida.
The niche, or uniqueness, is two-fold:
- they do an excellent job of bringing you very close to the people on the islands (both locals & visitors) through excellent almost-candid photography (I’ve complimented Walter many times, he’s doing a phenomenal job!)
- it’s updated daily (in many instances, multiple times per day)!
I like to think of it as Captiva and Sanibel Entertainment - Live!
The Sanibel Captiva 4th of July Parade was the big kick-off for the site, and I was so excited about it I volunteered to go out and take photos (check out my photo album on the site)!

It wasn’t like any parade I’d ever been to before, because I got to meet a lot of the people watching the parade. Getting to hear their stories, their dedication to the islands, and their sheer excitement about the islands was awesome:
- Kathy & Linn have been friends since 1974 and came all the way down from Nashville!
- The Polis Family from Illinois have been coming to Sanibel for 30 years, and after tracking me down, stated “the people here treat us so nice! We are already planning on retiring here!” They also couldn’t believe they’d be able to share their photos on the Web with their family — within the day!
- The Zaccaghnini & Damiani Families from Ohio were so happy they’d be able to share their photos with the missing third family, the Sullivans! This was their 10th year coming to the islands, and for whatever reason, the 1st of those 10 without the Sullivans (I was told not to worry, as the Sullivans would be back next year!)
In any event, the excitement continues to grow, as more and more people see what’s going on, it’s really incredible to watch…
So, if you want to keep up with Captiva & Sanibel Entertainment & Events, Sandy K’s SanibelCaptivaDaily.com web site is definitely the place!
