It was two and a half years ago (wow, how time flies!)
and my good friends — Dale, Heather, and Paul — made it sound relatively simple:
“Concentrate on the future & think globally — now, in one inspiring sentence — tell us what you want your company to produce.”
All of these ideas came to my mind, and I started typing.
For whatever reason, I kept thinking back to when I was VP/General Manager of Total Systems Support in the early 90’s, and developed the “Making your experience with computers a positive and productive one” slogan.
It didn’t take long for me realize I would need a LOT more time to condense my thoughts into one meaningful sentence.
As you’ve probably guessed, the point of the exercise was to create ISG’s Vision Statement.
It took about a week, and I finally felt as though I’d created something we could be proud of. Something that really characterized our collective history, and hopefully our future as well.
That statement, which has been our Vision Statement ever since, is:
Balanced, productive living through the efficient use of technology.
